Cigars for Armed Forces Day

Send Them Your Cigars

Send Them Your Cigars

A brother of mine headed out to Afghanistan this week. He left his wife and kid on base to go defend our country. Before he left, we sat out on his porch and reminisced about the beauty of family, friends and building mini race cars. Then he handed me a Robusto Cohiba and we sat there in silence. We smoked. We stared. We enjoyed our last moment together until December. It was really great.

With Armed Forces Day coming up on May 15, this would be a great time to send some cigars directly to our troops serving overseas, with no middlemen involved. Any amount or type of cigars that you can donate go directly to the troops, and are greatly appreciated. If you’d like to mail some cigars to our troops, here is Mitch’s new APO address:

Mitch Fadem

HQ ISAF, DCOS-STAB
APO AE 09356

We would like to acknowledge recent cigar donations made by the Detroit Athletic Club, who have donated over $21,000 to various Cigars for Troops Programs since 2003. We’d also like to thank Richard DiMeola for donating a box of his private label DiMeola Numero Uno, and the Cigar Palace in Alexandria, VA for a box of sun grown Dominicans. In addition, the Atlantic Cigar Company is sending out a fresh supply of cigars this week. Again, your donations of cigars are greatly appreciated!

New York Cigar Lovers Need Our Help!

Monday, May 3, 2010 @ 02:05 PM Author: admin

The following post is directly reposted from http://www.fireupthatcigar.com/2010/05/02/cigar-news-lets-help-nyc/. As usual our community is under attack. But Tuesday May 4th, 2010, in New York, we are being given the opportunity to stand up for cigar rights. Please re-blog this. Copy and paste and send it along. Tweet it, post it on your facebook…

And more importantly: If you are in New York on Tuesday May 4th around 10am. BE THERE!

On Sunday evening I recieved a letter from Ronald Melendi, President of the New York Tobbaconist’s Association. He and the entire Cigar Community need yours and my support to fight off this non-sense. I am begging you, if you can make this meeting, PLEASE do so. Not only to protect your rights in New York but the entire United States. We all know that if it goes through in New York, it will sweep across the entire United States. The important thing to remember is that this is not just a stand for flavored tobacco, but a stand for all tobacco, including Cigars. If you are not going to be in the area please fill out this support letter and fax it to 516-880-8171 or email it to me adam@fireupthatcigar.com and I will forward them to Ronald. If you can make it please let me know adam@fireuptatcigar.com and I will get you in contact with Ronald. Here is the letter Ronald sent me.

Dear Clients WE NEED YOUR HELP.

We need your support on May 4th, 2010 at 10am down at the Board of Health Hearing. The board of health is hearing testimony that will greatly influence it’s enforcement of Local law 69 which will ban flavored cigars and pipe tobacco for sale, including these products in your favorite tobacconist inside the city limits. I encourage all you who can attend to do so. The city needs to see that even though their intent is to protect children from these products the reality is that they are going to destroy small businesses who do not sell to children. We need to convince them to leave the Professional Tobacconist’s alone and let us do what we do best, sell tobacco and tobacco related products to adults who want to experience the pleasures of the art of smoking. Please join us at The New York City Board of Health at:

May 4th Public Hearing:

10:00-12:00noon

3rd Floor Boardroom, Room 330

125 Worth Street

New York, NY 10013

Between: Lafayette & Centre

It is time we take a stand and I am asking all who can to come out to take a stand and fight for your rights to enjoy tobacco, not just flavored but all tobacco, which by the way is still a legal product.  Please spread the word over the Internet and social media sites. I will lead the charge into battle but without an army to back me up all our efforts will be in vain. This is America home of the free so let’s defend our right to smoke and start to stand up for ourselves. I will see all of you on the 4th.

Sincerely,

Ronald Melendi

President

New York Tobacconist’s Association

BHCC enjoys a crisp evening at the Santa Monica pier with a cigar in hand. For now...

It’s a glorious Friday evening. You are catching the sunset right off the Santa Monica pier after a long work week. To celebrate this peaceful moment you pull out a sweet Pardon 5000 Natural and light up. As the sun hits the water, tobacco dances with your taste buds and the full bodied taste of fine spice reminds you that you do in fact live a good life. The cool Santa Monica breeze kicks a little ash to the ground, the bright red ash twirls around your feet before it dances away. You smile and think, “This is the life.”

Unfortunately for us, California legislators are working to ban smoking at state beaches and parks. The ban would allow state law enforcement to charge up to $100 in fines for being caught smoking in these areas. The argument stands that indoor smoking leads to an increase in a number of health issues.

We already refrain from smoking in restaurants and hotel lobbies.   Researchers cannot provide evidence that these conclusions are relevant to outdoor smoking settings as well.

Yesterday Jill U. Adams reported on behalf of the Los Angeles Times and asked the same question:

“But just what are the health effects of inhaling the smoke of somebody else’s cigarette? And does it matter if exposure is fleeting — and outdoors? “

We are all very aware of how the US surgeon general feels about smoking bans. We know about the reports and the research and the statistics and the findings. But none of this research is specific to outdoor settings. None of it!! Humor us: Why outside?

What do you all think? What does this ban mean for cigar smokers from coast to coast?

Three Cheers to Councilmember Jack Evans: Protecting Our Right to Smoke!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 @ 12:03 AM Author: admin

Jack Evans, Councilmember for Ward 2

Thank you, DC Councilmember Jack Evans for protecting our right to smoke! Evans pushed a one-year waiver through legislation to override DC smoking bans for special events. The all-male ‘Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick’ will practice the right to smoke in DC this St. Patrick’s Day and Fight for Children will be allowed to smoke during their event, Fight Night, which raises money for low-income children.

Evans, who has attended the annual dinner for at least the past 10 years but does not personally light up, said his bill is “perfectly appropriate for both organizations.”

Cheers and a “Happy St. Patrick’s Day” to Councilmember Jack Evans, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and Fight for Children!

Diddy Enjoys a Goldwin Tobacco’s Louixs Cigar

Beverly Hills Cigar Club Scorches South Beach with Golconda Churchill Introduction

Beverly Hills Cigar Club (BHCC) did it with Diddy, launching its new Golconda Churchill at the Sean “Diddy” Combs’ celebrity-filled “I am King” Super Bowl event at the Sean John pop-up boutique on Collins Avenue in South Beach.

BHCC sponsored Diddy’s and several other Miami events as part of the company’s Super Bowl Cigar campaign.
Celebrating at Diddy’s event were NFL players Hanley Ramirez (Florida Marlins), Ryan Grant (RB Green Bay Packer), Aaron Maybin (Buffalo Bills), Andre Johnson (Houston Texans), Lamar Woodley (Pittsburgh Steelers), Amobi Okoye (Houston Texans), Arron Mavin (Ravens), Dan Connelly (New England Patriots), Lamarr Woodley (Pittsburgh Steelers), Eric Dickerson (Retired Rams) and Hanley Rame-Riez (Florida Marlins).

Rapper Fabolous (John David Jackson) shopped Sean John with the Goldwin between his teeth.

“The King met The Emperor last night,” Vin Lee, CEO, Beverly Hills Cigar Club, said.  “Goldwin Tobacco’s Louixs, named for Louix XIV, the luxury-loving ruler of France, along with Golconda, perfectly match Diddy’s “I Am King” theme. With these cigars, South Beach was a little hotter tonight.”

The Goldwin Golconda Churchill, a premium double Connecticut wrapper aged 20 years, is sold exclusively through the BHCC, www.BeverlyHillsCigarClub.com.
