Old Cigar Factory In Danger of Demolition

Thursday, July 8, 2010 @ 06:07 PM Author: admin

The fate of an old cigar factory in Bartow, FL is on the line, although the future looks grim for the building at 255 N. Third St., according to an article by Charles Gonzalez.

During a May meeting, commissioners voted 3-2 in favor of demolishing the building. The factory received a citation before the vote for being a safety hazard.

However, there are still people like Winter Haven resident Ken Atkins who have tried appealing to the Polk County Commission. Atkins made a presentation on Wednesday that detailed two phases of a plan that could save the building.
